“Oh, what is in a name…”

“… would a rose not smell as sweet?”

Yes, it would. So why would I after two years of querying Crippled with the main characters Vincent and Nathaniel change his name to Nicolas?!?!

Well, it’s all a part of the editing process and after contemplating translations, I realised, that Nathaniel means “gift from God” and Vincent means “victorious”.

Both should be victorious and non should be valued as a gift more than the other; they are equals and twins after all…

And thus, Nicolas carries the “victory of the people” and Vincent remains “conquerer” (maybe not of the people, but of him self and any challenge set before him, true of them both).

And thus, a name change fit for a king and his general.
